夏草や　兵どもが　夢の跡

Filled with smell of green grass,
My thought is driven to dreams of warriors,
Those who passed away in the battle

あさましや　 いかなるゆゑの むくいにて
かゝることしも ある世なるらむ

How deplorable,
By what retribution does such a thing occur
in the whole country?

A hand of the mother

at home late at night.
